  • Everything Fabulous: Designer Crush: Samantha Pynn

I love this.  If I had the money to decorate any way that I could I would have to say that my house would pretty much look almost exactly like this!  Fresh, smart and feminine.  What a great use of color and patterns!

I love the street fashion in Milan.  These people know how to be bold dressers.  No wallflowers here!

Look fabulous without breaking the Bank with Rent the Runway

I love the whole “rent the runway” concept.  How many times do you see a dress that you love, but you know you’re only going to wear once.  This especally holds true for those really show stopping (really expensive) dresses.  The good news about wearing a statement dress is everyone will remember it.  The bad news is everyone will remember it, and, that you’ve worn it before.  I’m guessing in the days before facebook this wasn’t such an issue.  You could wear a dress with your college friends then wear it another time to an event with your coworkers.  But now, by the time you wake up on Sunday you have 10 facebook messages about 103 pictures your friends posted of you and your dress.
That’s where RTR comes in.  You get a drop dead dress for a one time wear at a one time price!  Beautiful and brilliant dressing.  Just the way I like it!
From a practical stand point, my friends have done it and have gotten great service.  I would reccomend!  And personally I’ve got my eye on some stuff from Haute Hippie…I see a rental in my future!

Testing the Over-the-Top Hat Trend in New York
Remember our brave StyleList corespondent Lindsey who tested the pantless trend in New York City for us? Well, she is at it again- this time field testing wacky hats.

What do you think about this trend?

I’m not even going to lie.  I make hats and I want hats to make a comeback. I wore a cocktail hat I made to a charity event this year and its amazing how strongly people reacted.  Some people loved it, some people stared but you know what, I didn’t care, because I loved it.

As I plan the decor concept for my current apartment (Brant and I moved in in March, but we still haven’t really “moved in”), I fondly remember past abodes we have transformed.

This is the tiny but amazing living room from our 500 sq-ft duplex with floor to ceiling windows in the South Street Seaport…instead of filling the space with couches, we opted for swings topped with shearlings suspended from the original beams that dated back to the 1800s.

    Check out the amazing view!

Our current apartment doesn’t have exposed brick or beams, so I’m staying away from the rustic wood and opting for graphic black and white with nautical touches…

I’m digging the retro hair looks.  I’ve also been wearing some retro looking summer dresses and some modern looking dresses belted in really close at the waist.  I think these hair styles would look great as part of a retro/modern mashup

As a former rider and a current preppy the equestrian trend is one that I’m always glad to see.  Since this is a trend with staying power it makes sense to invest in this one this fall.

The ‘I-Don’t-Care’ Hair Trend
Jessica Biel received an A+ in following the messy hair trend when she hit the red carpet of the UK premiere for “The A-Team” on Tuesday. The just-rolled-out-of-bed look was huge for tresses on the fall fashion runways at shows such as Rebecca Taylor, Dior and Derek Lam, just to name a few.
